Match Report: Witney 5’s 19 - 10 Abingdon 2’s

In rather wet and windy conditions Witney 5’s played Abingdon 2’s in a friendly. Witney started a prop down and Richard Strange offered to start for the opposition until a replacement was found. Playing with the wind Witney spent most of the half in Abingdon’s half and finished the half 14-5 up. Abingdon turned things around in the second half and spent much of it in Witney’s half but couldn’t turn territory and possession into points. With ten minutes to go Abingdon had pulled it back to 14-10 when the ball came loose at the back of an Abingdon scrum and Witney scored a lucky kick and chase try to extend their lead.
Despite the conditions the game was thoroughly enjoyable for all and played in excellent spirit.

Abingdon RUFC played one friendly game this weekend, the 2nd XV played away at Witney 5th's losing 19 - 10 in close and enjoyable game.
