Match Report: Abingdon 22-35 Chipping Norton

Abingdon entertained league leaders Chipping Norton on Saturday. An entertaining game saw the leaders win 35-22, but the bragging rights went to a much weakened Abingdon team with no less than 7 1st XV regulars away.. A well motivated Abingdon started quickly
and following a penalty by Ben Humage a scintillating move saw No15 M Voite score from
halfway under the post. Ben Humpage converted. Chipping Norton came back to take 14-10 lead at half time.
The second half saw some eccentric referring decision and Chipping Norton moved smoothly into a 28-10 lead. But Abingdon fought back and another long range try by wing Adman Boodell, following unexpectedly silky midfield skills from prop Ben Caudle, and a conversion by Ben Humpage bought Abingdon back to 28-17, An intercept try By Chipping Norton saw the lead restored to 35-17. But Abingdon were not fished and another try by Mosese Rasada following good work by the forwards brought the score back to 35-22. Chipping Norton held on grimly to the final whistle.
